superbikedans, step by step guide to powder coating
« on: March 07, 2007, 06:19 PM »
powdered  nysouls  gt today so thought it would be a good idea to let you

see how powder is done,  how i paint your pride and joy and the process

it goes through :)     matt    i hope you like your new bike :coolsmiley:

step 1   back from the blasters and sanded down smooth

step 2   masked and jigged where threads are and where bearings go

step 3  powder gun ready to go

step 4  ready to start painting,  see how the powder is turning to paint,  this is because

i preheat the parts first at 180c for a nicer job  :)

and various pics of the parts being painted

step 5  now jobs finished

step 6 into the oven  bake for 20 mins at 180c

step 6  after 20 mins  cures on a rack and is ready to be de masked

and now we have the finished job,  this colour is ral 6018 ;)

also stodgys bars and sprocket in white :coolsmiley:

matt  nysoul  i hope you like it ;)

dan i will call you to do my frame and forks, is it ok to prep myself or do you prefer them to be sandblasted,

is it ok to use paint remover and then sand it,

does sandblasting get in the nooks and cranies better

thanks
rob

flaz it probs is but i've never done it,   i think that when you see these two tone

frames,  the manufacturer must send them off in large batches to a specialist

who then paints them in one run keeping them all consistant, ;)
