painting tuffs
« on: October 17, 2005, 08:08 PM »
ok, if i want to change the colour of some tuffs, what can i do. I know they can be dyed, and yellowed ones can be bleached, but can you bleached coloured ones back to white? Would it be generaly a bad idea to paint em? I know it will wear off where the brakes contact.

Im thinking of buying the lilacs on ebay, keep it quiet though ;) or someone will get him to end early ;D
Dont really want lilac, i want white, with coaster.
Can you swap the rear hubs? So if i bought the lilac coaster pair, could i swap the actual wheels for whites and swap over the coaster hub?

dont paint them mate

see if anyone wants to do a trade first to get the colour you want.

if you want white, just hold out for white

or buy the lilacs, and see if anyone wants to swap for white.

Yeah, i know what your saying, but i have no wheels! At all, well apart from my old ammaco wheels, but there warped, and all the spokes are bent/loose/rusty and the bearings are nackered!
My ammaco silver star is going to my bird, 180 miles away in sheffield.
So, i have no real choice, the ones on ebay are indeed skyways, and coaster, so ill just have to live with the colour.
Hmmm, lilac wheels on a green bike, lovely!
Anyhow, can the hubs be swaped over?

hi mate , don't paint  them .  If they are a good price , i would say buy them. you can always swap or sell them later. Old skyways in good nick will always be a saleable item
If you want some white ones  , just wait around a bit , they will turn up . i was looking for a decent set of white ones for about six months . cheers dave  :).
