Hub question
« on: February 03, 2007, 02:58 AM »
Just a quick hub question from someone who's too daft to know.

If I want to change my front hub from a small flange to large flange do I have to put on a new set of spokes or can the old ones be cut down?

if you're going to bother replacing the hub i'd replace the spokes at the same time. but yes they should be fine if you want to use the old ones.

I would imagine the old spokes will be way too long to lace to large flange hubs, if they are currently laced 3x then you may get away with lacing them 4x to use up the extra spoke length.

yep you will either have th change the spoke pattern to see if you can get a fit, or get new spokes ..
