Pedals - Why Why Why ???

Out of curiosity, how did it come about that 3 piece cranks take 9/16th pedals and opc take half inch size thread??  Why ain't they the same size.....it'd make life a lot easier ?

Why did they do this, it makes no sense ?

only reason we have an american BB is so the yanks could get thier cheap assed 1PC's through the frame. if all bmx's had a euro bb and a 3PC then there would be an endless supply of bb's from road bikes. Bugger.

AND, Why is a "1 inch" headset from a BMX slightly bigger than a "1 inch" headset from everything else (Road bikes and MTBs)? Again, its gotta be a Yank thing!

their cheap assed 1pc revolutionised bmx crankage

the alternatives at the time (unless you spent BIG) were cotter pin shit and alloy pastry single use cranks

its a stardard ok we use to use imperial america has always had different thread ,some countries use metric its not only thse sizes that differ but also the pitch
