1982 Scorpion Super Team
« on: June 28, 2022, 05:06 PM »
I have owned this bike for a while but have not posted it on here before.

I already own a Scorpion TX which was my first ever BMX from bitd.

I managed to find a very rare Scorpion Super Team which was a team model developed with input by and for the factory riders such as Byron Friday, Ted Guilmette, Eric Airhart, Richie Zaghars, Mahlon Abrams etc.

As with all Scorpions from the Cal-Facet factory the frame is triple-lugged chromoly and brazed.

Some models had an integrated seat post clamp, some didn't, not sure why.

This is pretty much the set up that came from the factory, with a few changes due to parts that I already had in my spares, such as Araya 7C rims instead of Scorpion ones and DK bars, but as with the factory bikes it has a nice smattering of ACS parts.

I hope you like it.

Frame: Scorpion Super Team
Forks: Tange TRX
Headset: Tange MX320
Stem: ACS Stoker
Bars: DK
Grips: A'me Unitron
Brake Caliper: Dia-Compe MX1000
Brake Cable: Dia-Compe
Brake Lever: Dia-Compe Tech 3
Seat: Cinelli Unicanitor
Seat Clamp: ACS
Seat Post: Scorpion Stainless
Rims: Araya 7C
Hubs: ACS
Tyres: Cheng Shin Comp III
Cranks: Takagi One Piece
Spider: Sugino
Pedals: KMC AMX
Padset: Scorpion
Number Plate: Haro 1B

Nicely done. The TX was my first bike too back in '81 so I've always had a soft-spot for all Scorpions.
Thanks for posting it up.

I love my TX, it was the first BMX that my parents bought me when we lived in the USA in the late 70's/early 80's.  When we moved back to the UK it came with me and it has stayed with me all this time.

This is my TX, my favourite bike in my collection as it just brings back so many memories and got me into this amazing sport that we all love so much.

Ooops,my mistake,I had the SX not the TX. Should have remembered - TX for Tuffs and SX for spokes. A kid that lived up the road had a TX,red f/f and yellow Tuffs. Just the coaster brake too. First BMX I ever rode. It blew my mind!
