:LolLolLolLol: yup, mentioned above. The wheel sits over to one side in the forks too. I've tried other forks but they don't work with the small road headset  >:D

Hi Toby,

Sorry being slow with my 'keeping up to date with things' at the moment, but had been meaning to cycle back around to this thread.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for taking the time to post the info you shared, great stuff there and links too, top man. I did purchase the Stronglight headset on impulse and may be a bit too optimistic about saving the forks but that is plan A. I did have doubts about compatibility so after work I stripped the og headset off of the bike and luckily all is good, even the id of the fork crown race. Stack height looks good too so that's a relief. I thought the fork steerer was bent and that was possibly why the stem shaft wasn't inserting fully. After checking out your Sheldon Brown link and noticing that bmx steerer id was 1.1 smaller than road bike steerers I took another look. After a bit of a quick clean of the fork steerer the stem shaft did insert fully so checked the fork blades and they are definitely where all the bend is. So, salvageable but time will tell if they're keepers. I do have some forks to use if the og's have to go and go with a British threaded headset. I toyed with the idea of Campagnolo for the bb and headset but maybe that would be pushing the boat out too far on this build. The cost of this build is already rising too much for my liking but hopefully the end product will be worth it.

Those Cobras have a lot of interest but I thank you for standing down on those Pete. I hope all other Radsters take your lead and give me a chance on them  :LolLolLolLol:

I'll be posting a pic of the pedals I'll most likely be using very soon. I hope you guys will approve... they're Italian but not Campy  ;)

Not too many choices for decent bmx specific pedals so it looks like these are a no brainer for this build.

The pedals pictured above have been acquired  :daumenhoch:
The Cobras got grabbed by somebody else because something was going down at work and I hadn't entered my final high bid  :tickedoff:

Cheers dude, the pedals are not that common so I had to get them. Tyres, gutted but there are others I can use and wait for the right ones to turn up 👍🏼

A few weeks ago I popped in to see mum and dad, my dad says he's found some bmx forks whilst having a tidy up in the garage. He hands me some Tange TX 1200 with some patina and og decals. Cheers dad, nice one I say. When I got home after a little elbow grease they look quite decent, just a few battle scars but nothing too serious. So I thought to save time and trying to straighten the poor quality og Dangre forks with French threads, I can fit the Tange and run a road head set with British threading as suggested by Pete. I know I wanted all European parts but I'm thinking quite a few European BMX bikes used the Tange forks, so why not. So now the lovely Stronglight head set with French threads is redundant and I needed to find something else. I ended up buying a nos Cambio Rino competition steel head set, 80's made in Italy, decent quality from what I found with a couple of searches. 26.4 crown race and the stack height should be fine.  So a change of plan but one for the better I think.

Yeah, a nice surprise from my dad. I prefer the Stronglight but needs must, if an English threaded one comes up I'll probably grab it. I cannot spend over a ton for a nice campy head set on this build. The Rino looks decent enough for now.

Parts update...

Two are in the bag, made an offer on the caliper and waiting for response.

No frills nos Clark's Power Glide cable in a nice dark blue. It's a front but will hopefully have enough of the outer to use if I use another colour on the section in the frame.

Nice used Weinmann lever dated 83.

Very nice nos  Altenburger Brilliant rear ... fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Not the stem I wanted but I just bought this nos German made Friko stem. I overlooked a nice Selle Royal stem on eBay, tried to find it again and it has been bought or the listing has ended  Thumbs down I might keep this one gold or strip it. It is a bit different so I guess it suits this build.

So I was not feeling the og blue razorblade saddle, so I decided to go with a reissue Cinelli CMX. I have only seen a few blue Selle Turbo's and they are about 200 quid. I cannot find any blue San Marco Supercorsa's either. So I guess the choice was made for me.

Last update before the build in the new year...

A blue anodized wheelset popped up for sale on the bay. They were listed as Raleigh but I thought they looked like Ambrosio rims on unknown hubs. They arrived today and are indeed Ambrosio laced to some chrome BH hubs. Not the blue Weinmann I really wanted but a decent enough rim on a not so decent hub. They need work and have scars but they work with the euro theme so I will go with them for now.
