Neil, are you trying to get a more old school look I take it, as the bike will not stop anything like it does now if you swap them
I'd say the lugs would get in the way of a caliper - I've seen the opposite way around before, ie a bracket to make an old school caliper brake into a newer lugged type, but can't recall the way you're looking for I'm afraid
