My biggest fear is that MK will end up like BugJam did. It started out as VW's only and was full of likeminded people all there for the same reason, however as it grew the crowds changed and it ended up as a free for all with the minority being genuine enthusiasts.
With the large influx of people not giving 2 stuffs about RADBMX attending MK it could quite easy head the wrong way. And if that happens it will kill OSBMX.

Sounds a bit like run to the sun .............man that used to be very good , just vw  , then it all changed , never went again
bit like most vw shows as it go's .
Think forums all around the world are suffering , not just bmx one's either . I'm still (only just ) on  a vw forum , man its was heaving
4/ 5 years ago , now its like a ghost ship , just hope bmx doesn't follow suit .............
NO  I  don't do face book  ... or twitter ...oh or my space  . You kinda get the picture  .

Sorry to go off topic, but you are right about the VW shows,as far back as Bug Jam 90 it just became a good place for all the ravers and Escort chavs to meet up and have a drug/piss up lol

Good to get everyones opinions on this. My complete and utter computer illiteracy means I don't even have Facebook, so was completely (and so it sounds blissfully) unaware of the many other pages/platforms/sites that were available to view online. Knowing the popularity of Facebook I can start to understand now how something like that could take away such a vast chunk of members, especially if the way it operates is that much quicker/easier than Rad (not that I personally find Rad hard to operate). I suppose in that respect its simply progression and many people will go along with that, I can totally understand that. And I agree with you Nick regarding being more active and that the site is only as good as the people in it. Who am I to start this thread when I hardly post anything myself.... :idiot2: :idiot2: :idiot2: I suppose it just saddened me to reflect on recent years gone by and the blue site years in comparison to how its been much more recently. Each section has been so so slow and the thought of this site dying would make me sad. Personally i'll always be on here whether it be browsing, selling, buying or looking at the 'babe of the day' thread, and I certainly wont be going onto Facebook because I've got know f*cking idea how to use it... ;D. Like its been said by you all...you get out what you put in, so i'll be putting more effort in from now on.

Thanks for the feedback and have good weekends...

Si... :daumenhoch:

Things must be bad..... there hasn't been a post in 'Babe of the Day' for nearly 3 weeks!

I look on RAD every day when I am away working (which I am now) and I have seen it become progressively quieter over the past 18months or so. Same few people posting and a few old names are still there but it isn't like it was when I initially joined. I asked a question about an orphan hub I have a few weeks ago, plenty of people looking but hardly any replies. I make a point of running pretty extensive build threads as I enjoy feedback and help from the people on here who know much more than I do, and I have had people contacting me as a result and offering me free parts and so on to help complete some of my bikes. Some great, generous people on here who are obviously in it for the good of the hobby.

The Fb groups are always busy but as we all know the posts just come and go. I've set up a B'ham WHEELS Fb group to try to gather all of the WHEELS info I can and keep it all in one place; many of the ex-Team riders are on there but aren't into BMX anymore so i'd never be able to gain their input on here for example, so for me that works. I still post (probably too much) WHEELS info on here whenever I can.

Part of the problem is that the Fb groups have such a massive/wide audience, so if you're trying to make a sale then it makes sense to post up on there to make use of the huge footprint they possess. I've recently sold off a few of my more expensive items (including a complete build) as a direct result of somebody having seen them on Fb and randomly contacting me and making a CrAzY offer. Things that I wasn't really considering selling but the offers made were so ridiculous I couldn't justify saying no.

With that wider audience I think there is a greater range of $$$ available and that in itself pushes the prices up.

To be honest I'm guilty of not frequenting RAD as I should do.

I do look at the Facebook groups quite a lot and I was one of those moaning originally for rad not to succumb to a Facebook page.

Trouble is for me, I use my phone to browse and it's difficult to read the posts on the forum on a poxy phone screen while the Facebook pages are pretty clear

All that combined with I have a lot to do with the Skyway page means I don't come on here as much as I used to.
I really need to delete some of the groups on Facebook as some are pretty poor.
I have been banned from a Facebook group though so that's a start!!

I started coming on here about 3 years ago and have probably been on here every day since. The amount of knowledge I have gained from here is huge. I defected to Facebook a few months back and at first quite liked it on there, bought a few things at really good prices and connected with a few lads local to me who've really helped me out even offering free stuff to me so Facebook isn't all bad, but I'm now getting a bit bored with the pictures of mega budget builds, and have noticed a few people getting stung with sales so would only buy from local lads or people I know from here.
As I'm now finally starting my first build I can spend hours on here trawling through the various sections getting ideas and gaining knowledge of restoration techniques and looking at the old adverts and build threads which is something I'm never going to get on Facebook. I don't really know the reason why it's so quiet on here as for people like myself this place is a goldmine.
One thing I will say though while 99.9% of members on here have been very friendly and helpful I have had some very blunt answers off some when I've asked for advice or commented on something, and I do think it can sometimes be a bit daunting for a newbie to come on here asking for advice. Maybe a newbie questions section could be incorporated into the welcome section .
Anyway I'll be keeping it  :radbmxsmilie: as no matter how quiet it is on here I still keep coming back :daumenhoch:

I've seen it, she reminds me of one of the male actors from the Van Damme film AWOL, the bloke in the crowd that says "I could kick that guys ass".

I remember the old days of Vintage BMX, the Firebird thread and all of us flipping over to this site (I think I was member no 21 originally, before the 2 resets). It was absolutely nuts back then. It was a full time job keeping up with the posts and replying, but I guess since then other channels have appeared, Facebook, Instagram and so on. So it's hard to tell if there's less people into it now, maybe they're just spread out more.

It's inevitable though that things would calm down. People get used to things, it becomes normal and less of a impulsive draw. The memories a lot of us tried to recapture and the nostalgia of the 80's would eventually lose their shine. Those bikes craved in the 80's have been built and the satisfaction of owning them has been achieved.
