Something for my Daughter...Thruster Vanishing Point
« on: December 03, 2015, 10:36 AM »
1979/80 Thruster VP.

I picked this frame up a little while ago to build for my Daughter. It was decaled as a Timmy Judge Replica, but with a US BB and not Euro, plus an 18.5" TT, it is a Vanishing Point.

So, decals ordered, received and fitted, I have started to put this together. Apart from the frame, head tube, and seat mast Thruster decals, all the others are genuine  :)

Frame as I bought it....

I put out a wanted on the good old Facebook pages, and voila, an original finish and decals Thruster II fork. Perfect for my Daughter, as it is lighter than a Pro fork and has a weight limit of 95 Lbs....

I wanted to use as much Shimano items as possible. This includes a 600 crank set, 600 BB, chainring bolts, Tourney calliper, cable, pre bent lever and cable clips. The chainring is a 39T Takagi....

As it sits at the moment, still deciding on a few parts and then to get them ordered  :daumenhoch:

And I have decided to use a trusty Tuf Neck stem....

More to follow as I get the parts  :daumenhoch:

She's a lucky Girl!  I tried that with my daughter.  A Kuwahara mini, but all she wanted was a pink bike with a shopping basket!

Okay, we have managed to finish the Thruster  8)

She decided she didn't want black wheels, so back to the drawing board. I was just browsing when a set of blue Araya 7C rims on Sunshine sealed hubs popped. I quickly showed her them, and that was what she wanted, blue wheels  :)

I managed to pick up a blue Rad Pad stem and bar pad, and the Racing Pro frame pad popped up too, Perfect!

So, now with everything here, I finally put the finishing touches to it while she is out with Mum at the zoo, ready to ride when she gets home  :)

I was thinking the same. Shame we have to think like that. Worried it would get stolen.  :(

Thanks bro. I ride all mine too, although it seems to just be the TA at the moment. I will get the Puch Trak Pro put together in a couple of months, so will be trying to ride that also, before giving it to my other Daughter  :daumenhoch:
