Your helmet.
« on: July 20, 2015, 11:54 AM »
Just wondered what people use as a safety helmet (if anything). I'm going to be getting a cruiser and may well ride around London on it as well as local trails etc.

I've never worn a cycle helmet before but London is a dangerous place for cyclists. What do (or would) you lot do?

I know people will disagree but I never wear a helmet on my bmx, mtb or on my road bike. I just don't like them, I did buy one but it's still in the box somewhere

I wear a piss pot on ramps, a full face for racing (both times lol)
Never worn one on the roads though. Apologies if that offends anyone but I don't have any kids to worry about setting a bad example to

i have had the same pink protec helmet for over 20 years, only wear it at the indoor skatepark because you have too.

I got this from my lbs for £30, it does the job. I've not worn it for over 2 years though.

Full face for track and skatepark... nothing on the street.  :daumenhoch:

Can't do full face, got a POC helmet. Not the cheapest but safety first and all that,  very comfortable tho. Only for skatepark use. Nowt on street.

if its just for cruising around on and you want the safety of a crash helmet....just get a traditional skate lid or an mtb helmet :)

Yes, I can't really ride around London with a full face helmet on, purple or not.

Never worn one before but most helmets I see people wear are the ones with cutouts all the way along them, look a bit funny on a cruiser, skate style helmets will look a bit funny on an old knacker like me.

I've got one of those helmets, don't know which version it is. Protection wise it's way good but it feels a bit big & clunky if you get what I mean!

You could always customise it a bit  :daumenhoch:
