Primo crank re-furb
« on: July 09, 2015, 08:41 PM »
I've had these cranks for a couple of years now, Think they was originally chrome but something had happened to them and was all patchy.
I started to use a dremel with a small sanding drum and got fed up with it and put them away as it was too much like hard work.
Pulled them out the other week and had another go.
This is kinda what they was like all over, But worse as this had some work.

I sanded them with the dremel. Then blasted one and painted it satin black. It looked shit. Although after the blasting you couldn't see any sanding lines/grooves they all came to life when painted.
So I gave them a polish using a drill and attatchment.

Then a blast using a sand blaster, Covered over as best I could the pedal insert.

I really like the way the blasted arm looks, But for my build I wanted to get as close to a black shot peened finish as I could.
I'm happy with the results, Rattle can matt black. Think I could have done better with a new can and not rushing it in the garden.

Didn't blast this flat section as it's where the sprocket/crank sit

They got baked in the oven to dry :10_2_12:

That's a nice finish you got there  :daumenhoch:
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.
