My First Build : 1986 Haro Master
« on: July 07, 2015, 10:35 PM »
Hi,

A while back I was looking for a Haro Master F&F to do my first build. During my search, I stumbled across a 1986 Haro Master complete bike in Neon Green . . . and Pink. Each to their own and I'm all for individuality, but those colours don't float my boat. But the bike was available at the right price with fairly decent spec components, so I took the plunge.

Here's what I started with:

1986 Haro Master F&F Neon Green / Chrome
Neon Green Haro FS Bars
Unknown Pink Grips
Suntour Power Stem
Dominator Seat with Blue font
Knackered Layback Seatpost
OG White Dia Compe MX hinged Seatclamp
80s Pink Tuff IIs
Pink Haro FS Tyres
OG 1985 Dia Compe MX 1000 / Tech 3 with dated pink cables
Shimano SX Pedals Silver
Sugino 1pc crank
Sugino Spider chrome
Sugino Chainring silver

And here it is when I bought it

As I said, it's not my own personal taste of a color scheme. But the F&F were in excellent condition, so my plan was to sell off the OG parts I don't want, and replace them with some that I do think is more appropriate for the build. My goal is not specifically to do a 1986 catalogue build, but more to try and ensure the parts I swap out are the correct era, and Haro if possible.

I'll document the transformation on this thread.

cheers

Goodbye MX1000s

[ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] First thing I wanted to do was get rid of the Pink.

Goodbye Pink Tuffs and Tyres and grips and bent seatpost

These parts were all sold on , to fund purchase of more "appropriate" parts list.

Should be a nice bike when you're done fella. That looks like a lovely F&F. ;)

The best year for a Haro Master IMO
