Hi guys!

As some of you may know, I'm a Brit based in Japan. Although there is an old school bmx scene here it's not as big as in the UK, the States or Aus, though last weekend I rode my Haro to probably the biggest old school bmx and vintage bike meeting in Tokyo, and therefore Japan. Blue skies and sunshine brought out lots of cool bmx, cruisers, lowriders and other custom specials which meant that I went a bit crazy with the camera! I was also able to meet up with Ian from Natsukashi, who was there on his sweet-looking 24" Kuwi, which got lots of admiring looks from the locals. Hopefully my Laserlite will be done by the time of the next event! Anyway, here's a selection of photos for your viewing pleasure:-

Love all the individual flare, loads of character, loads of personality & good to see a few of the rules we tend to stick to being broken...Japanese Punk BMX :coolsmiley:

Looks like a strong scene over there for 70's US builds 8)

Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah, you certainly see some crazy stuff over here, be it bikes, cars, people, behaviour, etc, etc, but that's part of the charm of living in the land of the rising sun! :daumenhoch:

More? Really!? Well, since you asked, here's one of my Haro plus some close-ups of various bits and bobs that caught my eye:-

Great bikes and it shows people are just as batty over there as they are here as said some proper old old school bikes love the custom street beat with the shockers on 👍 and the blue stroker very nearly bought one of them but I couldn't lift it 😄😆 has that chrome kiwi had some of the gusset cut out or is it just an oddball model , thanks for posting I enjoyed looking through them.

Batty is a good description of a lot of things here!  :crazy2:

That Kuwi is a mini (I think it's model KM-1) and I'm fairly sure that the gusset is standard on them but perhaps a Kuwi expert could confirm! They're not normally my thing but this was such as a sweet example!

looks like the bmx scene over there is 'bigger' than it is here,  or at least 'as' big as here,  check all them bikes!

It's difficult to say. I guess my view is tainted by the expectations I had before coming here of finding loads of Kuwis and then only seeing the odd one, usually hung up on a bike shop wall or at bike meets like this one. This year's turn out was great though, so maybe they're out there but only come out to play when it's sunny! The retro bike scene (of which bmx is a part) is definitely big here though, which means that I can usually see something cool when I head into Tokyo! :daumenhoch:
