Rims & Brakes....... Skyway/Z-Rims/Alloys
« on: May 13, 2014, 03:49 PM »
Hi All,

I'm currently running OS Skyways with NS Skyway pads..... but the braking performance is s#it....

I'm going to sell them and get some spoked  wheels......

So my question is...

Is it any better with Z -rims? still a plastic and what pads to use

Or

I just go for a set of alloy rimmed wheels?

Cheers  :daumenhoch:

I'm sure i'm not alone in saying this mate but OS brakes compared to modern set ups really are appalling - no matter how well they're dialled.

Add in the fact that you're probably way heavier than you were as a youngster and you're doubling the stopping distance.

Alloys will stop better than mags but its really a lesser of two evils...  :-\

If you want to run mags, clear pads are the only thing that will give you reasonable stopping power.  won't be owt special though and the noise puts alot off
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Go with z rims. You'll notice a huge difference. Skyway mags just don't break as good, unless they're the graphite ones
