« on: April 27, 2014, 09:25 AM »
Gents,

What was the first year the Skyway Grabber seat appeared? I had it in my head it was 86?

Found this from 1988 and it's in the catalogue - also seen one on an 86 project but not sure if the guy just fancied putting it on.

Cheers:

Looks like in 86 they were using Hot Seats.

Loving this site below for reviews. Sunday sorted!

Cheers Pickle! Just seem reply. Saves me a small fortune. Assume I need a Hot Seat for an 86? There is a beauty of a Grabber on The Bay £56 with eleven hours to run if you need one in white.

Reckon finding a nice Hot Seat may be very hard. Never seen one!

As ever thank you.

Cheers Gary! Another novice error by me. Was reading about a 'perfect build' from a guy on the museum who has an 86 with a grabber on it!

Thank God for the forum!

This was one I was in process of trying to win - just two years newer than my F&F! :)

I was going in at £110 tops - identical one in US on at £177

Guy selling in UK knows a Radster. Maybe Mad or ?Big dog as I was chatting about some of his other stuff too.

White Hot Seat seems impossible to find. Currently using a Dominator. Good luck with the grey hunt. If I spot one will shout you.

86 TA mate. Just been looking at forum and found the Velo free style seat and then a guy in the US with a white one. If it's anything like the Gold Pro Neck stem I needed for a year, all of a sudden three will come along at once. :)

BTW - not even seen a grey one even in the sold sections! Sounds like a hard job finding one.

Yep pickles right it was 88.

Hot seats do pop occasionally. I have 4, two nos ones in green and baby blue and two minters in white.
Usually your looking around the 100 quid mark.

Good luck finding one...... :daumenhoch:

I am guessing that your two minty white seats are staying firmly with you and that I could not prise one off you? :)

Good to know they pop up though - I have only ever seen battered ones. Thanks Steve.

One of my white ones is destined for my latest lavender and white build the other I was going to keep in 'stock'.

Mmmm.....could I be persuaded to part with it? Possibly.  :chin:

As my Mum always says - "You can only ride one at once"! :)

I know they are rare mate, and I do know a lot of Radsters keep stock.

Totally understand if you don't want to part with it - but if you change your mind and want to know it's going to a VERY good home can you keep me in mind?

Not looking for a discounted deal or mates rates. Happy to pay you want you need and if I ever sell my collection you would get it back. I don't ever plan to and only have three bikes so it will be with me for life.

Don't want to pressure you into selling it, so will just ask if you would have a think about it that would be ace!

Cheers

Julian.

As said Hot seats are an ass to find...in any condition!
I have never seen a T/a with a Hot Seat fitted, it might look a little funny on there as they are real stubby. The original idea of them is that they gave enough clearance for your bars to spin without hitting the seat but still allowed the seat and grip to be held at the same time...essential for freestyle.
Are you building your T/a as a race inspired build or are you going for the freestyle look?
T/a's always look right with a Kashi Aero in my opinion!

Hi Damo,

DAMN!! :) So I have bought your old seat and its wrong for ann 86 TA. Balls!! :)

That will teach me. I should stick to GT's!! It is Finny's old one 86 curved brake bridge with Pool comps, but I am changing a lot of bits. Seemingly made it worse. Meticulous told me when I saw him that my frame is not from 86 its from 2000 but made with 86 materials and stamped that way.

Haha. Gutted! I will have to let Steve have his seat back at some point. :)

It's not necessarily wrong, If you like it then do it! Have a look in the museum at some of the t/a builds there and see what you reckon looks right!  :daumenhoch:

Hi Damo - I spotted an 86 with a grabber! Not seen the seat yet but I night like it. It's rocking a white dominator at the moment!

If it ain't broke don't fix it! Dominator is fine and era correct! Skyway actually did branded Dominators too but as rare if not rarer than the Hot Seat as Steve will probably confirm!  :daumenhoch:
