Hi there newbie to bmx
« on: December 30, 2013, 09:49 PM »
Hi there

I am new to the world of bmx, I have quite a few retro mtb's but have always fancied giving bmx a go.

I have just bought this gt vertigo 1996 , just frame and forks, are they any good?

I haven't a clue on how best to build it, so will be asking for help. Sorry

Thanks for welcome.

It's just the frame and forks I am getting, so will need to source the test of the parts.

I like the mag wheels (think that's what they are called) , which are best to get though?

Skyway Tuffs, if you like that kinda thing.

Everything is expensive in old school BMX  ;D

Site supporter tags will cost you a measly £10 for a year, how to buy one is at the top of this page  :daumenhoch:

Welcome in Rojo, you've successfully got your SST, it states it by your name.

Your £10 enables you to buy/sell as said, but also contributes to the biggest BMX gathering in the UK, held in Milton Keynes usually in August, it's a belting weekend, highly recommended. Your cash also helps the general running of the site itself.

There are also members rides held throughout the year, all over the place. Where are you based.

Who said we were Pro's?? You must be kidding.

Not too many rides down Devon, but they're worth the hassle if you're happy to travel.

We are hoping to get out camping in our T5 next year so might be able to do a meet if we are near.

Just need to get parts for the gt now.

Have a look in the museum section at other GT's, get some inspiration, and don't be afraid of asking questions, even if they seem daft. We all started out like you Pal.

A good rule to remember though, is that it's your bike, so build it how you want it.

You'll not go wrong on here.
