Effing hub problem
« on: August 09, 2006, 01:39 PM »
I bought these knowing there may be an issue with getting the cluster off!!

Having spent the best of a day trying to release the fugger I'm now worse off as I have dropped the hub and managed to get some damage on the (what was) perfect blue anno :tickedoff:

It's been in mole grips, a vice with cloth and rubber securing and using a long torque wrench the thing still wont move.

Anyone got any tips before I end up having to take an angle grinder to it??

Cheers

Paul

can you not do a part build to get a rim back on and then
go to a bike shop they will shift it off, no probs
for a couple of quid tops

its def easier with a rim to twist against than just a hub

which look pretty sweet by the way  :daumenhoch:
cheers Kev

Ordinarily I would have done just that, the problem with the bullseyes is that they are a 3 piece hub, so the chances are that I'll end up just spinning off the none drive side flange >:(

undo the bearing case of the freewheel and take all
the cogs off that may be a easier option
then use a hacksaw on the rest to loosen it

If, to do that I need to knock round an inner ring, then I have tried that but with no luck again. It is an old suntour 7 speed cluster.

Really annoying because they are great hubs and I have already manked up the rear a bit >:(
