why do 400s make more money than 401s, bitd 400s were cheaper and considered to be inferior than 401s ?

Rarer now perhaps ????

You see more builds with 401's rather than 400's. 401's are an easy rechrome, 400's aint due to the spider.
One build a year, the only way to get it right. No rushing involved.

For the same reason why Hutch cranks fetch more than 401's - Inferior cranks + they broke more often + not so many around =  stupid amounts of £££££  :LolLolLolLol:

its because the 400's were specific to some completes i.e the laserlite which makes them more in demand as if you are building a laserlite you need 400's which makes them desirable pushing the price up. ???

Wouldn't that only be the case for Sugino 400's ???

I believe it is only down to the fact there are less around due to 401's being the superior choice BITD.

It would seem there's quite a few things that fetch high prices due to rarity and not coz they're better.

Agreed, performance really has nothing to do with price
