NUOS?

as if we didn't have enough argy bargy with the term NOS  "nono"

NOS just means it hasn't been used/fitted, has no actual bearing on the condition of an item

I have built 2 nos frames up ridden them and sold them on with build marks etc..... Both sets fetched far more money than I paid for them NOS. I don't think anyone will mind if its been loosely fitted. Plus if you are keeping it for your own viewing please and aesthetic  values nothing will ever be lost especially if its a rare model/example etc.

A tricky age old dilemma is this question of NOS  :pilky:

If a frame set is removed from its original packaging and handled with gloved hand, it remains NOS, as soon as the gloves are off and contact is made with human skin, it is no longer NOS.

It is essential therefore that it remains within its original packaging at all times, but for those special occasions when you want to hold it and give it a cuddle, glove up 8)

because people who work in bmx shops always wear gloves to handle their stock....  :chin:

Not a NOS or showbike person, but I wouldn't bang a headset in (unless it's an Odyssey Dynatron as they're so shite it wouldn't harm the frame  :LolLolLolLol: ).

Either get some of the CW thangs or the pipe lagging thing would work, although if they're getting put up on wall displays you'd have to support the forks n'all.

anything would be better than letting the forks just sit there in the frame

almost as bad as dropouts on concrete

foam sounds like a nice option

  :daumenhoch:

I am not suggesting that once built it then retains its 'Nos'ness' .......... but if you wear gloves whilst holding the frame set (without building it up of course) - it remains NOS 8)

The key is, wearing gloves :coolsmiley:

not at all delray.

Keeping the oily residue that skin contains caused by over-active sebaceous glands off of an object (particularly chrome) that has spent 30 years safely wrapped is a sensible approach to take, thus keeping it NOS :)

Fook me - I handle Roman/Med coins, brooches etc every day without gloves. 30 year old chrome ain't gonna be affected by a bit of the old skin oil  :LolLolLolLol:

Yeah - some of them are NOS and dropped  :LolLolLolLol:

Same applies though - it's generally only bare metal (such as a sword blade etc) that'll suffer from skin oil - chromes generally thick enough to stop any nastiness  :daumenhoch:

I'm of the opinion that as soon as any part is fitted its game over

Yep, 100% spot on.  Unless it was bought New Old Stock from a bike shop with one fitted when purchased.

If I was going to display the F&F on a shelf I would fit the headset to stop any rattle damage.

Could always display them seperatley, side by side :-\

Try 2 of these Nick, one each end  :daumenhoch:

Then just screw the bearing retainer on up to the rubber cone.

Personally I keep all my NOS frames exactly as they came from the factory which means just the frame and card attached and with nothing else installed.
Find another way to display them rather than adding something just to stop them falling over.
WANTED....FRED BLOOD QUADANGLE FRAME..
