Early early iron revisited
« on: August 05, 2006, 03:04 AM »
Way back when even the OM was young, we tried all sorts of things.  Tanks, fenders, the whole bit.

Some of us tried gears.  This is my version of that old bike.  The brake lever pulls on the Sturmey Archer hub and changes the gears.

For the UK cats.  Sturmey and only Sturmey Archer was used.  The Shimano version was considered non-workable

It worked well at the time but eventually became just part of BMX history.

The tank and fenders, well, let's just say it was fun imitating Decoster

lol , its like nitro for bikes , a quick pull into 2ndand first, it must of been hard holding it in second , as the levers would not be stepped like a SA gear changer

how did that work

Rich :)

I was blessed to have been in California when the BMX scene first started so I have also been lucky in finding some of this stuff since I'm still here.  Yep, just like turbo-charged!

Thanks all.  I know I posted it before (different set-up) but I found a cool 70 Sturmey Archer hub and someone traded me a cool set of ridged dimpled Arayas (my apologies for forgetting who).
