shimano dx's
« on: August 04, 2006, 02:11 AM »
finaly got round to doing my pedals so i can put some of my end caps in them...

i'll be bringing a few sets of end caps to MK so if anyone wants some just find me on sunday, unless some yanks have grouped together and hired a private investigator to pose as an old school bmx geek to get me banged up for impersonating a shimano dealer ;D

before and after...  i basicaly stripped and cleaned them then then filed, sanded and shot blast them. paint wise i just gave them a light dusting of silver then sprayed them with 2pac lacquer that i put some blue pantone ink in. then obviously stuck in a set of my legendary end caps.  not a bad result i thought.

some pics on my haro...

the finish on the pedal looks nice  :coolsmiley:

but isn't it the wrong way round on the bike?
looks like you have fitted the wrong spindle & got the pedal backwards  ::)   :crazy2:

Fantastic work, is the lacquer a professional spray job?
I tried lacquering a Cr-Mo stem this week, and couldn't stop the lacquer running & pooling (Plasticote Rattle Can).
Any tips on avoiding this - just dozens of very light coats? I get too impatient I think.

i dunno about professional spray job cos i did them myself but i do spray in my line of work and its out of a gun in a spray booth...

the can is probably more thinned down than the paint i used, its 2pac lacquer and its proper thick. once you've built up enough paint buy dusting it on then you give it one nice wet coat.  cos its blue ink in the lacquer the more you put on the darker the colour gets, so you gotta be carefull that they match.

i dunno if thats gonna help cos not everyone has access to all that shit,   good luck.       joe
