Fellas, MK 13 Organisers in particular.

I have not yet been to a MK Rad Event, however, I am booked in with the wife and 2 kids to come this year and we are all looking forward to it.

I was just wondering, and I apologise if this info is available and I have failed to see it, other than the poster on the first page on this thread are there any details or summary of the kind of things that will be on at the event. O/S racing, show and shine, bike bits jumble sale etc.?

I'm pretty sure that I know a lot of what's going on from people I've spoken to who've been before and tbh I'm a bit gutted that I've never been in past years.

I think at least if the poster gave a rough idea of what radsters and their families can do, it would go down well. I'm aware that enough people attend and that it is already a huge success, but  there maybe a small number of  radsters, like myself,  that didn't know what it was all about. I've seen the pics and the posts in the past and just assumed that it couldn't be done as a family, kid friendly weekend break, which kind of ruled me out, however one should never assume and I've spoken to enough people to justify myself and my family adding it to our family holiday calendar.

Once again this is by no means a dig, and I sincerely apologise if I've missed the details.

No problem with asking mate 

The MK event is definately kid and family friendly (as long as the Mrs doesn't mind looking at old BMX's and grown men talking rubbish all weekend) 

anyways, it kind of follows this rough agenda

Saturday

People start to arrive on the site from around 6am! to set up tents and get their spots (it is free to camp, if that's what you're thinking of)
People will set up their displays of bikes and old BMX stuff about the place
There is a main arena (of such) with some brand displays (best of british, Skyway, Haro) that sort of thing.
There will be BMX jumble all over the place that you can buy
There is obviously the track for people to ride and practice on all day (but you must wear a helmet and gloves)
There will be a catering van there for food and drinks if you don't bring your own
you can bring as much of your own as you want 
We do a massive ride around the nearby lakes in the evening (we had about 200+ riders last year) which is a great chilled out ride
We normally put on a BMX related cinema in the evening but not sure if that is going ahead this year......we will see
We might have a jump comp and bunny hop comp as well depending on time

Sunday

Sunday is official Show n Shine day and racing day
You can bring your bikes down to the main show n shine tents and get your entry cards
People will have all their bikes on display again for you to wonder round
Registration for the racing will start in the morning
Racing will normally start around midday
MK club who kindly allow us to use their track will be sorting the racing out this year as they are doing a Pete Kirk memorial (he was the legend that used to be on the mike in the middle of the track at previous MK's)
Things start to wind down around 3, 4pm but i guess there is as much to do as you want.

The only thing we ask people to do is

1. Please clean up your own rubbish and put it in the big skip provided
2. enjoy yourselves 

If there's anything i've forgotten then i'm sure other will add to it

Ref the camping, Ive took the easy way out and booked fri and sat in the express holiday inn, however, the plan is to bring the small tent and both myself and my eldest will camp if the weather is typical of MK RAD style!

Good afternoon RAD members! first may I say how much we at MK BMX Racing Club are looking forward to your weekender,

As mentioned earlier, we will be organising the Pete Kirk memorial race on the Sunday, we will be running an old school class and hope that many of you will ride in Pete's memory,

Sundays racing will be an open meeting so anything go's in the way of bikes (as long as they are race safe) Mtb, old school, new school..ect.....We do need be stringent on riders wearing long sleaves, trousers, gloves and politly ask everyone to adhear to this.

Pre reg will be going live soon, I will post on here as soon as I can confirm details,

The Pete Kirk Memorial race is in discussions as we speak, we are hoping it to be along the lines of a club race between whatever clubs enter a team, (would be very nice to have a RAD team in amongst us!!!) as I said we are still working on a format and we are expecting to be able to confirm details next Thursday or Friday.

Looking forward to an exciting weekend and meeting some of you guys, I have a feeling its going to be a blinder!!!
