seat post shim?
«

Hi
Just got my 86 Haro built ,its had a fresh powder coat and its a chrome post. I got one of the new old style hinged Dia Compe seat clamps but get it tight enough? Are they just not very good? I have been told by Retrodan I need a shim, any idea where I would get one,or make one?
thanks

I don't think it needs a full shim tbh mate , a piece of tin will do the trick
Go to Carl's bin and grab an empty can of Fosters and use that

Use on old inner tube, cut a strip off and make it slightly larger than it needs to be so it over hangs the clamp etc. Once you have nipped it up use a stanley knife and trim it around the seat tube.
It works a treat and leaves less marks etc.
