Sr 422 stem on a ripper?

Putting together an 83 ripper for the summer which will be running a set of cw pro's and I have my eye on a nice shiny SR MS422 stem. Would this be era correct?  Mainly see tuf-necks etc.. On rippers But they're silly expensive. Thoughts and advice much appreciated....

MS 422s were very much in circulation at that time, on Burners and UK Gooses and probably a lot of others.

I know a lot of people use Tuf Necks, but it's entirely your decision what parts you use on your builds. I know what you mean about Tuf Necks fetching good money, they are nice but if you're building to a budget, like I tend to do, then you can't go wrong with an SR IMO.

I personally like the SR branded parts and try to use them as much as possible. The MS422 is a nice solid stem. Its a brand i remember from BITD and you're right when you say that the Tuf Necks etc are silly expensive. I guess they are higher end stems but seriously !!!

Your build and your rules bud. I am also gathering parts for a Ripper build and my wallet wouldn't stretch to a Tuf Neck either but it will still look nice with good quality branded parts like SR. Their OPC are really nice too

When I got my ripper frame BITD I used the parts off my Ammco to build it including my SR Stem

suntour power stem for me , the ms422 always seems a budget stem to me (no offence to anybody) although as said of the right period and the rippers were never a budget bike

many rippers bitd were built using parts off other bikes, mine had a suntour power stem on it at first and then a hutch stem, it had various cranks including one piece and flights, various wheels, tuffs, graphite tuffs, ukais and arayas. the point i'm making is there is no set spec really, build it as you want it
