84 SE Quad - RACE SET UP 13.3.13 PICS Page 5
« on: January 04, 2013, 11:43 AM »
Ok, i've been on this forum a while now and am yet to share any of my bikes.  Seeing as this one was spotted in the background of a wanted post and a couple of folk requested more pics i thought what the hell, lets put this one out there for some feedback, good or bad  :)

I'm going through a fancy something "a bit different" phase at the moment.

Agreed - a Quad is hardly different but perhaps my choice of colour is. I wanted orange as I think it offsets well against the black decals but i didn't want a new school fluoro orange, I hope the pictures pick up the pastel tones that I think are still in keeping with an 84 frame set. A big thank you to my good mate Darren KAP for painting the Quad  :daumenhoch:

I'm thinking black grips and saddle, not sure whether to use chrome or black SPC? I'm sticking with the CT175 as they first came into use (I think) in 84 on both race and FS bikes but not sure if I should swap out the chrome Sugino chainring for a black one....

I'll add some sharper (non iPhone) pics as I progress.  I hope you like it.

Chris

Nice gloss white slab.  :daumenhoch:

At the risk of talking about BMX - what fooking cranks do you lot suggest?  I don't fancy "air pedalling"  ;D

Funny - the only thing i said i was sticking with was the CT's and asked for advice on a couple of other bits - then give or take the only thing i get feedback on is the CTs!! Classic  :2funny:

I have a wanted for race tyres and Grippa's but think i'll just dress her in some fat/thin Tioga Comp III repops?  ???

Sorry, I read "I'm thinking black grips and saddle, not sure whether to use chrome or black SPC?" as being "Single Piece Crank"!  :D

Go with black parts on that, it'll look cool.

:D :D Seat post clamp - i'm making up my own acronyms now!  :LolLolLolLol:

To be honest i'm having second thoughts now - i read a similar thread about 3PC vs one piece on a Ripper - i've been deliberating ever since...

I've got a black Elina lightning bolt saddle - i think the flash will go with the orange.  I have a chrome post, black MX1000, DC cable and Tech III, black bubble font A'mes, waiting on black DXs as I wanted 9/16 spindles for the CT - if I go with a one piece crank then I dont have to wait for the spindles as I have 1/2 already.

What about tyres? Should I go with the repop comp III?

Not sure about that blue Kettle Matt.  :-\ Think a Chrome one would suit the Kitchen better.
