I have been given a good bit of advise from a very very good man over the Pond. The earlier bikes were made by different manufacturers so it is more than likely these Pre E expert stamped frames with the earliy serial numbers were made by different engineering workshops with different tooling capabilities until the mainstream serial numbers and size demarcations became consistent by year and size kike 883124 being an 83 etc
