ahh i forgot all about those ones!

i had a pair like yours in the mid 90's

i dont know if steve geall just made those ones as forks only or maybe they were a slightly later design to go with the adjustable seatpost zimas

thats a very cool build,
I like it,

dear god that frame and forks are ugly though, esp the forks and seat post,

got to love it for that,

Geall would be proud eh?

Nice  :daumenhoch: I really like the design of the Zima frame......apart from the diameter of that fixed post!

I love em'...they're so far the other end of the scale from main stream bikes, proper quirky! now I have 2  :crazy2:
Speaking forks, 1 set has a Z stamped in the dropouts(no funny crown) and the others have no stamp, but have that wacko crown  ???
Not sure what the deal is if I'm honest.  I hear the forks had issues so maybe 1 type was an improvement over the other?

the frame design/seat tube dosent really bother me

what gets me is the angle of the forks/head tube and the seat tube ;D ;D ;D

I kept thinking that, looks like the whole bike is leaning backwards,

what the head angle? relaxed?

Nice build Kev

My fav bits of the Zima frame were:

- The little "Z" created by the asymmetric chainstay/BB joint.
- The way the seat stay goes OVER the top of the dropout making it almost impossible to bend (I stole this idea on a Mod I did to my Mk1 Dirtbike).
- I also Like the way the fork leg tubes stick out, just below the bearing race (so you didnt have to bend the fork legs as much). I forget who did that first, Zima or King, but they were both like it

mine arent like that alex, think my frame and fork were a early batch (build no 43 iirc) but i do remember having a set of zima forks like you describe so steve geall must of changed the design of the forks at some point

Oh yeah, so they ain't.

I'm sure some of them (early ones?) Had the peg mounts lower than the wheel axle. Thy made toothpicks easier! .
Weren't some WAL forks like that too?

yeah all the wal forks were like that

not sure about the early zimas, mines quite early and the peg boss is only just below the dropout

we need steve geall on this thread to answer our questions :LolLolLolLol:

Im sure I remember Tim Ruck having a go on Steves first bike (or one of the early ones) and being so happy he could do toothpicks on it. He said he was gunna order one straight away.

Then there was the peg catch incident at one of the Backyard Jams when Steve's front pegs caught the the edge of the step up jump behind the mini ramp.

(Ive messaged Steve with this link. Lets see if he brings his Zima knowlage over)
