 They dont look like a matching pair to me, the serial numbers dont match either. I think the rear wheel is nos but i reckon the front wheel is a brand new one which would also explain why the rear wheel is lighter in colour because its faded slightly over the years, just my opinion - still a very nice pair of wheels.

I've got a feeling none of the serial numbers ever matched. Sure i've read that somewhere before...

No, the serial numbers don't match on pairs.

The front wheel on that set is NOT a new one as they don't put serial numbers on new tuffs, it's deffo an old school one but agree, colours are not a great match - one has probably faded with storage.
