Do I have to use a certain primer or anything the Chrome is mint so don't want to get it stripped or damage it just want to hide it with gloss black ?

Last time I had a Chrome frame painted I asked the chap about this and they 'key' and use a bonding material from what I understood.

I'm no painter though so I'm sure someone will point you right. :daumenhoch:

frame would need keying up properly then a decent etch primer i.e (sikkens wash primer)before priming with a high build primer :daumenhoch:

Problem is the forks on the 91 sport were never Chrome I have had it sitting here for a while but it doesn't look right I need them black

leave it chrome and buy another bmx - you get to keep it cool and have two to play with  >:D

if you key the chrome by flatting it down you will ruin the chrome, just use a good etch primer then paint, or just powder over the chrome, but it will chip easily...

they weren't shown in the catalogs with chrome forks but my frameset was NOS and I've seen quite a few others with NOS frame that have chrome forks and they never have decals on the forks which is weird.

If you are set on black then do it Nottz style - get some black electriclal tape and wind it round... that way you can see if you like them black before you commit  :daumenhoch:
