Headset question
« on: February 27, 2012, 10:45 PM »

How important is it that this spacer is fit under the headset lock nut?

I have installed the Gold Epoch Mori Headset on my Torker and there is no room for the spacer and the lock nut has bearly any threads to lock on to.

I'm pretty sure the Headset is simply incorrect for the FF as the self tightening mech is quite large, think I have Fooked up.

Cheers
Ben

what the length of the fork tube and what's the legnth of the headtube ?

are the bearings the right way around ?
it does look correct but it does look too short - i know they come up big/tall

Lol!

It came as a FF only.

I doesn't look like it has been cut, all the edges are smooth and clean and the threads are perfect. I think I wil see if I can get a cheapie headset and see if there is a difference?

I know you want a bit more lenght but, does it really matter?  I mean, you will have 3 threads worth of contact in the above picture and its black adjusting cone(?) that does the hardcore holding together.  The Lock Nut is only there to make sure it does not come loose so 3 threads could be fine..  Even more so when you consider you also have a spring to stop it working loose..

Feckin lovely headsets btw..  I have the blue one (from Sparticus) and was tempted to get a gold aswell.  Seriously good looking..

Yeah you are right actually Paul, I had thought that.  I suppose that is what my first question related to about the need for that washer.

I could just put it on with some PTFA tape and lock it tight with what purchase I have on the threads.

Grand idea.
