Ishiwata frame ID
« on: June 12, 2006, 11:07 PM »
Can anyone identify this 24" cruiser frame & fork.
It is made by Ishiwata of Japan, stamped on both rear dropouts which are machined. It has an oval top tube and a largeish 1 1/4" down tube. Pretty good welds and appears to be cro-mo.
It is virtually identical to the 20" Thunderball-X F&F that was imported by Ron Kitchens in 1983 except that the 20" has slightly different rear dropouts but I have never seen a pic of a 24" to compare.
Did Ishiwata make frames for anyone else?

do a search for Ishiwata on google and they seem to be a respectable Jap co, the racer boys have a lot to say about them.

TBH though Nos', i keep seeing 20" around with those exact drop outs so i think it may be generic. That's not to say it ain't well made. probably used by several companys, like tange mate  :daumenhoch:
