here are some pics of my rider. it has been to 4 ride outs now. i wanted to make a bike up using all my favorite bits from the 80's,90's,00's, and present day. thats why it has been labelled as the hybrid build. this may not be to everyones taste but i love it!

its a 1989 pk ripper. yes you have read that right 1989!!!!!

custom powder coating by superbike dan. sparkles like nothing else in the sunshine!

original nos se racing pk ripper decal set. in silver and grey.

modified bottom bracket/cranks with sealed cartridge bearings. the gt cranks have had the anodise removed and have been polished. chainring is a polished (on both sides) profile imperial 36 tooth

1" to 1"1/8th conversion to except 1"1/8th sinz carbon race forks. and yes i have drilled them to except a u brake mount. headset is a mixture of tioga beartrap 2 1" & savage 1"1/8th

both the u brake mounts were machined to fit the profile of the frame and the forks.

dk stem has been polished and a gyro plate was made up on a cnc machine. the gyro is an odyssey gtx that has had all its seals and bearings removed and the main part polished. bottom gyro plate was modified to fit the alloy ripper frame.

dx pedals have been restored with new caps.

kink park pegs have been polished.

u brakes are polished odyssey evo 11

seat post is a haro fusion cromoly. re decalled

seat is an odyssey senior 2

the wheels are peregrine super pro. with a nos shimano mx30 16 tooth freewheel.

chain tensioners are polished bullsye modified to match the shape of the dropout curve. with shorter adjusting bolts.

tyres are haro multisurface 3 white walls.

levers are dia compe dirty harry.

bars are hoffman ramproom lovehandles. with polished lugs for the removable bar ends.

grips are odi longnecks with custom made cnc bar ends.

chain is stolen half link. that was a complete pig to fit.

stainless or titanium bolts have been fitted through out

I've seen it on a couple of rides and the pics don't do it justice. I prefer seeing a bike like this that has been thought about and 'designed' rather than an era correct with NOS parts that colour clash.

It's different, but it works.

Thanks for all the comments lads. This was my first build for a good few years. Im not into building era correct bikes. Well at least I didn't think so. Until I bought a 1985 neon green master survivor. I now have all the era correct bits for it. Except I'm gonna stick a gyro on it. Looks like I will be joining the era correct club! Only for one bike though! Just to please everyone

Don't worry bob. It will have the correct forks on my 85 master build.

also those are some of the best condition super pros ive ever seen since 1996 and i dont think ive ever seen a set of the speed series/show cranks in such mint nick. the more i look the more i like mate!!

Really nice bike, like the paint!
Whie wall tyres and 6pc bars are usually a turn-off for me but what stands out about your bike is the modification you've had to do once you notice what parts are on it. You've overcome the head-scratchers well there mate.
I bet that gearing is a bit easy isn't it? was that intentional?
I'm doing an inch-and-an-eigth S&M Holmes in a similar way at the mo, still at prep stage. Parts assembling quickly though!

Seen this bike at the Birmingham skyride and the paint job is just awesome.It does look the business........but not to sure about forks though.

The pics are now in the gallery for you dan. Your getting some great comments on here. The bike is also entered in the bike of the month. It will be interesting to see how it does as it's different from your normal build. I think the paint will get me a few votes. Cheers dan.

it should seem all at odds with itself, the hoffman bars scream vert but the alloy frame is shouting race...
same with the racey tensioners and and street-all-day- pegs...

but tbh this is the third butchers i've had of it and i think its such a sweet build then fook it, its a peach!!

Loved this at mk and even took it for a cheek spin. And it was so balanced. Lovely ride mate. And after hearing about all the fabrication you did for it. You deserve a massive thumbs up. Love it

Well I voted for it in CSBOTM as I loved the thought in it to get it to be your bike Stu.

Again, not sure how the carbon forks will last, but I keep coming back to have a look. Are you bringing it to Terminal One in November?

I see you and your peice of machinery at T1 on the 12th. I appreciate all the time and effort you put into this Ride. How do those forks handel with us 15 stoners on?
I am very mudh the same mind as you. I have had all mid school bikes(one rider, new school)Haro Mirra flair x2, Mongoose DMC, Schwinn Hydramatic Jay Mirron sig model. Every time I have thrown a little bit of old and New school in, either with decals and/or parts. I have done this to make a good rider better. Mid school need to be lighter and with a better decal set(old school)but im stuffed until Del gets his arse into gear. Are you taking this to the next Xmas ride at T1 ?
