Stupid question time
« on: August 24, 2011, 09:26 AM »
Right you mid schoolers, i have a pair of Fishbone sealed hubs and some Sun Big City rims to lace em to.......now i've fooked about trying to work out what size spokes i need and in the end i took em round to my local shop to do instead (yeah it'll cost me £40 but hey ho) anyways, they've called this morning saying that they don't think they'll work using a 4x pattern and said they would rather do them 3x.

now i know fook all about lacing 48's but will doing them 3x make any diference?

No real difference in 3X or 4X unless your gonna be doing a load of Street/Rampage etc - anything that puts a fook load of side stress on the old wheels.

Also - if they're the Blowfish hubs I've laced mine up to both Super 7X's and Big city's 4X  :daumenhoch: - quick edit - Sun BFR's not BC's - but shouldn't make any difference.

like to have a look at them Rob when you get em done, sounds like they'll be pukka :daumenhoch: love them blowfish hubs, :smitten:    3x should be fine on the big cities they're double skinned so takes a lot to bend em anyhow , unless your planning on some 10ft wall drops etc.....  :LolLolLolLol:

They've probably not got the right length spokes for 4x. you will be fine with 3x with those rims, just keep spokes tight! My newschool has a 2x front wheel, no probs so far, looks ace.

Take them to BMXCITY in Grantham Brother

The are the Midschool Wheel building Masters.

Just bought NOS Chrome Sun Blackbox rims laced to Prolite hubs Front 36 3x, rear 48 4x. Super tight and straight and very cheap.

Give 'em a ring and ask for Dan, he is Midschool to the Max.

Keep the faith. L
