Skyway TA thoughts...
« on: March 25, 2011, 09:02 PM »
Hi all,

I scored a TA frame some time ago on here, sadly minus forks but a good price.  The last few weeks I've scoured the known world (and even some parts of Wales  ;) ) for some matching forks.  It seems they are pretty elusive and apart from a set on US eGay that went for silly money I'm gonna have to bide my time.  In the meantime though I've got a pair of tange aero pro forks that I could use. They will both be powdered, so what do you think, will they look too out of place?

they will look fine,a case of having too i guess.ive always thought that if you havent got the correct forks then landing gear are the best all round substitute,it looks like your not trying to match but going high end instead

Always been the case you often see single T/A frames for sale  on their own ,, the forks were prone to cracking on the cut out drop outs

You will pay as much as the frame

Forks I've seen go for £170 without postage  from US

I was going to mention this in a recentfor sale  post ,, but the seller ,,wouldn't have been best pleased  :D ,,can't remember who bought it in the end  ???

You could PM Coloured Tuffs see if he has any repops left over  ;)
Don't think I have seen a TA with landing gears....think they would look far to beefy on a TA probs visually better with some tange aero or something for the time being.

Tange is Good option for now and won't burst his bank.
Landing Gears would ruin a TA's sleekness.

Cheers guys. The tange aero pros do look a pretty good substitute for the time being to be honest. Same shape tubing and pretty sleek, the landing gear would be too beefy for that frame I reckon. I'll get em both powdered and decalled up and post a few photos

I think you got it on the nose sell the frame with the non correct forks to attract buyers and buy a complete f&f otherwise you'll always have the spec demon on your shoulder !  :daumenhoch:

That's what I'm thinking too. Will still be pretty eye catching once it's all powdered so I'm sure it would sell easily

Ha, not the first time I've heard that!  Think I'm gonna go with the tange aero forks for the time being.  If a set come up for reasonable money I'll grab em

This "Frame only" situation maybe becoming a bit of a habit! ;)

What I am about to say might be construed as sarcasm, or even heracy, but have you thought about Raleigh Aero Pro forks? I believe they are teardrop profile, and may look the part AND not cost the earth AND perform?

Well that's my two penneth.
