hi folks .seat post will only go down so far whats the best way to clear, its an old school frame and av tried
sand paper wrapped round pipe to smooth inner tubbing doesnt work, tho did shift some surface rust have even
took an inch of post with cutter ,whats the next step shamfer chrome of seat tube,help please .... >:(

try wrapping some emery cloth round a piece of something round like a steel rod which will fit in a pistol drill.
then send this down the seat tube,work up and down,with drill running of course! :daumenhoch:

grease the new post as well mate or you will get it stuck. these posts do seem to vary a bit as well tbh as i have had this problem with a couple of frames

Measure the outside diameter of the post with a vernier gauge:



then measure the inside diameter of the seat tube to make sure you have the right size, you shouldn't have to do anymore than grease the post if it's the right size; should be 22.2mm  :daumenhoch:.  Unless it's PK Ripper then it will be 13/16ths of an inch.

I could never get a shimano DX post into my DP, tried 2 or 3 BITD, ended up with  a Renthal, wish i'd kept the DX's!!!

If the seat tube is rusted inside
You could always give the frame a soak in oxalic acid  >:D

Fill the seat Tube with Vinegar 4 a day that will clean all the rust out  ;) But make sure u grease the inside back up after 2 prohibit rusting again  ;)
