Just come across a skyway ta that doesnt have the arrow stamped out on the dropouts,does that sound right or is it a wrongun ?

sounds like one of the reissues

I think they are one of the very early ones. Not 100% but sure i will be corrected if wrong.

it does have a 1" head set and caliper brakes so were the re issue frames built like that or were they built like a modern bike?

i think they were made from left over tube sets from bitd

ta for reply but the rear dropouts dont have the arrow stamp either

there was one for sale on here a few years back, think it was Funmonster and think it was one of the early prototypes. but at my age my mind plays tricks.

Might be worth a search in for sale for TAs

is it stamped skyway on the botton of the BB? there should be a serial number as well. as Jim has said there are a few prototypes floating around. think dordymush had one ( have a look in his me and my bikes )

Had a search and the archives dont go back far enough.

that may well be the one i am talking about.

I think it was funmonster that got in touch with Skyway who told him they experimented without the holes for strength but it's also possible they had problems in that part of the process at times because i've seen a fair few over the years and not just from the two reissue sets.

I'm pretty sure Bob is right, especially with the numbers that are out there; they can't all be prototypes  .

The "prototype" funmonster had was difinitely different to the two common or garden TA's though, it shared some things both have and had a completely new serial number type.
