the information I have on this frame is more to do with who it belongs to rather than the history behind it. When things are sorted my end I'll let you know.

Steve - this isn't related to the DP inventors comp that they held in Action Bike is it? the one where there was a Quarterpipe as the prize?

Ive geard of a Rebel invent a frame comp in Action Bike, not a DP.

Sweet frame, I love all these wacky later freestyle frames, extra tubes for the sake of it most of the time.  It just shows how manufacturers were trying to catch a kids eye BITD by being a bit different (whether it worked or not).

There was deffo a DP comp... it was to invent a freestyle innovation or some new gadget to be the next thing after the Potts Mod and spinner came out.

Prize was a DP made Quarter Pipe... can't tell you which on it was in as I sold my collection as a job lot to Jimmy P to fund my bike build... I will have a look at the picture I took off all the covers to see if I can spot it  :daumenhoch:

By some strange quirk of fate... its the one with Mr Shohara and his yellow Performer...

"Win a Quarter Pipe in our DP inventors Comp"

...never saw who won  :)

That would be great Iain, thanks
I'll also send a picture to Brian Probert, he worked at Dp, see if he remembers the frame.

Ok, just sent him a text, see what he comes back with.

Right, it was made after he had left the company, I'll keep trying.

Just had a read through that issue. The competition really seems to be to design an add on accessory like the potts mod, frame stands etc, not a complete frame. Had a look through all the later issues and couldn't see anything about anyone winning the competition or any of the entries.

Interesting frame indeed, but fook me it is one ugly mofo.  That dear Steve is the BMX equivalent of a 10 pint woman.  If I drank 10 pints of Stella that would start looking really nice.  :LolLolLolLol:
