REDLINE 500A RESTO.
« on: November 16, 2010, 07:07 PM »
had this old redline frame for a good while now.
bought off jt smooth i was gonna leave it a survivor.
but after putting a few bits on it that where in better condition i thought i might as well had a go at restoring it.
i know some on here are wizards at restoring the old bikes but im useless at most things where you have to take your time  :crazy2:
anyway here a few pics how it went.
and no laughing at my best apron ya bastards  :-*.

the frame as i got it.

so out with the nitromors then a bit of sanding to get the rust pit marks off.

a quick trip to halfords and a tenners worth of spray.
and yes the missus was well pissed to find me in the kitchen painting an old bike lol.good job its all being ripped out lol.
3 coats of white and the same of clear and it was shining like a good un  8)
have to say that old bent layback seat post was well handy for holding the frame up to get round with the paint.

all dry and it was time for some of del the sticker masters stickers that he made for me off a set of redline 600 stickers as i could'nt get 500a ones from nowhere.the rear triangle ones were done just by the pics as i never had one of them to copy/ the man is a genius  :daumenhoch:.

then onto the last bit and build it up.
the spec list is a bit better than it would have come with bitd but what the hell  :).

had these old suntour pedals.so thought i'd do them at the same time. come out well  :).

so there you are.pleased i had a go at it now.
just waiting for a couple of cable clips to turn up. then some of firebirds pads and its done  :).

That has to be the greatest set of resto pics I've ever seen :LolLolLolLol:
Half-naked with pink apron for applying Nitro Mors. Ultility room workshop and kitchen spray booth.
The perfect example of the modern multi-functional domestic environment.

Excellent result, by any means necessary. Awesome job 8) :daumenhoch:

Great stuff mate  :daumenhoch:  Fookin spraying in the kitchen  .......... Love it    :LolLolLolLol:  How long did the smell last  :D

Like the pink apron , the makeshift  'United Ultra' spray mask and the look of satisaction while spraying  ;D

The health and safety bods would have a field day on this thread  ;D

It was all worthwhile though as the bike and the pedals have turned out cool  :4_17_5:

Quality thread mate   :daumenhoch:
