Thread for making stem bolts black again?

I've searched for this thread but really can't find it. Any ideas?

heat up bolts with a blowtorch then quench in old engine oil 
or buy new ones

Ah okay! It's not for stem bolts but I'm interested in the method, as I might try it on something else

aint it some sort of bluing kit pm kuwahero im sure he was selling  one a whiles back, its prob gone but he would be able to advise im sure

yeah you can use gun blue and there are commercially available blacking kits ,although these are quite expensive
a metal finishers will do it but they charge a minimum of about £35

Do a search on the net for Frost...............they do gear for restoring cars and they do the chemicals needed to do this
