The final one
« on: August 19, 2005, 01:09 PM »
I started posting on this site, and said from the start that i was out to collect one of every 20" JMC frames- 1982 onwards

Well I just purchased a long standard and its on its way from the states to me now. The last frame I need.

My JR mini is being rechromed,  so in about 12 weeks when i get it back, I should be in a position to line them and post some pics !

Its be fun / and expensive - but it feels great to achieved the goal I set out to do !

Thanks all for your help and support along the way !!!

Jon I've been following you quest in part:

First of all WOW!!!! that's some quest to set yourself, but also:

How long has it taken you?

I love to ask how much (but that's a little too personal).

Also which was the most difficult to either obtain or restore?

Now that your near completion do you feel the need to push your collection further?

Orb, next pics will be the entire line up - towards the end of the year.

Jaz Chimp -  Burners ? I'll think about it !

Diesal    I got my first one in April 04  (apart from my original JMC bitd)  so 16 months.

The hardest was probably the JR Mini they only made 54 - I thought I may never see one, but Jim Melton helped me out and put me in touch with a firend of his who had one, and i was able to buy it.  The chap did not initially want to sell it, but when he found out I was trying to line up all the 20"  he decided he wanted the collection to be complete -

Big respect to Don Moore and Jim Melton.

To push the collection further I could consider adding a cruiser and a PIT ?? I am not sure. I am do this in the future

The other option is to start collecting the 02nd generationy models with elipitcal down tubes.   and then of course I could look for the late 70's 01st generation airfoil tube JMC's  but to be honest I dont have the room, and my credit card needs a rest.

Cost, I have no idea I have not kept track, but as nearly every part has come from the states with tax and shipping it was expensive

Dave - Just for you

If anyone has not seen one of these up close, pay attention to the tubing,  it is a specia round to oval tube, notice the tube appears to chage shape where it meets the headtube and seat tube-

Had to pull out of Bourmouth this time round, but when I have them all back and built, I think it would be rude not to bring them out as a family

Watch this space in the future !
