A & A. Early Boinger
« on: June 14, 2010, 05:06 PM »
I had the pleasure of building this beauty for Monster Robot.

A & A was a northern California company that was involved heavily into motorcycles in the 70s.

The story (according to Bob Freitas who worked at Tiger Cycle at the time) was that one of the Yamaha reps was in the warehouse at the time they were rolling around on a early/prototype version.  The rep took pics and so on of the bike and went back to Japan.

Given Yamaha's huge finances they tooled up and had the Yamaha bikes ready for market within months before A & A had a chance to fully implement their program.

A few early ads.

It was a long term project for sure but with the help of Tony Montalbano who did an amazing job at the decals, it was ready for Bellflower

I found the "right" shocks days before Bellflower and I was stoked as heck.
The bike was in rough shape when I picked it up from Adam Cox but with the help of A & J powder coating in El Cajon who matched the paint that was in the bottom bracket, the help from Alpha bikes in Vista, and Victor's Upholstery (who managed to save what was left of the seat) the bike is finished.

Bike is on it's way to Michael right now via Dennis Dain who offered to ship it to him. Hopefully Michael will take better pictures that do the bike more justice

Another cracker Rick  :daumenhoch:
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'
