CHESTERFIELD BMX TRACK
« on: September 22, 2006, 07:11 PM »
Anyone remember this track?
Could hardly forget it, was the fastest i ve ridden.  In 1984 there was a Schwepes UKBMX national here, which got abandoned before the 3rd motos had started....It was dangerous but bloody awesome.
Just wondering if anyone else remembers it, its one race track i ll never forget.

I raced there from about 83 to 87.
It was all downhill with the big drop off through the big trees. The first 90 deg berm at the bottom of the first straight used to catch people out as it was very low and you were hitting it pretty fast and a lot of people ending up going straight on!!

Here's a pic of me aged 13 back in 1984 jumping down the drop off

Good pics.

That ws the first UKBMX national I went to, as I was was only NBMXA for a while.  Was a bit nervous, as the UKBMX scene was meant to be tougher, but on that track I won my moto easily....the downhill ones suited me and I was gutted when they cancelled it half way through.  >:( :(

I've raced on both the old one and the new one, both scared shite out of me. I've got used to it now and love it. :smitten:

As Alansilentpartner said its debatably the best track in the country , deffo one of my faves. The doubles out of the first corner are huge and you get some megga air from them, so is the step-up into the last corner! RAD AS FECK! :daumenhoch:
