gentlemen please ... we all have our opinions and they are all valid.

Mr TheJob & Mr Whac are spot on from a rider perspective... having ridden through the 90s.

To people like myself and many others looking back nostalgically, looking for something different to 80s bikes, and not wanting to ride them in anger then they are evidence of experimentation and development from 'the journey' ... we love their style and what they represent ... which is a perfectly valid reason to collect them and love them :daumenhoch:

Standards and S&Ms were the 'riders' bikes no doubt ... strong, dependable ... and a bit boring.

'Kooky' is right where I'm at  :daumenhoch: ... life would be so dull if we all thought the same.

George has cut off his dreads now  :)

Yeah They looked a bit funky but that seemed ok in the 90's & personally I liked the oversized frames that were about then. (where's a pic of that CircleG frame that was the inspiration for the Pork)
As for them being shite, the geometry & weight are the same as what any 20" t/t frame is nowadays, but at the time it felt real weird  :LolLolLolLol:

Shiteness is related to build quality and tolerances, especially the wals and the big boy stout boys.. I mean, homeless bikes, both incarnations, were also complete shite in this respect...

You missed out 'badly' between 'ridden' and 'through' in my case Ed  ;D

But yep - spot on comment - although I still go out on some of me 90's bikes, they are pap to ride in comparison with a load of todays bikes - that's progress though innit, but I still wouldn't get shot of any of them (despite when the missus keeps asking me to clear the loft/cellar/spare room)  :daumenhoch:

Standard, S&M and a few others got it as near as it could be dialled for the 90's (on some of their frames) geo-wise, Standard especially had it dialled with materials and weld quality due to them (nearly from the get-go) producing stuff in-house. You had to shop about a bit to find frames etc that were built to the same in-house goodness (Spooky made stuff being an example). The 90's wouldn't be the 90's without some whacked out ideas that didn't quite pan out (like stupidly big freewheel protecting dropouts). I love that 90's mentality of a 'rider owned' company, and am glad that the likes of Standard and S&M are still going strong today.

Well I love that as I have always had a man crush on Geoff. And Steve g and his zimas. Cos you know with them the wheels and brakes would probably match up, the cranks would go in. Etc etc.
