new Dirt Bike frame, brakes don't fit!
« on: September 14, 2009, 08:26 PM »
help

there's not enough room to get my brake on. tried a hombre and an ody evo ii and neither will fit.

there's not enough room to get the brake blocks on and leave a gap for the brake to pull.
even with the small spacers there's not enough room, yes the wheel is slammed, but surely it's supposed to be!

and when i put the tension on the arms, they are going to hit the tyre.

i'll get some pics up tomorrow, i got it working, but there's only a couple of mil tops between the tyre and brake arms, so you can put virtually no tension on the springs
with the small spacers on the blocks rim side, i just get away with it.

i should see alex tomorrow so I'll see what he thinks.

cheers chaps.

If the chainstays are the same width as an LTF at the brake mounts you'll be needing a 1.95 rear tyre...  :daumenhoch:

also the brake blocks aren't in the middle of the rim, think i'll have to abandon slammed and put a link back in the chain.

How about putting a half link in the chain to move the wheel back a tad?

yeah, it's a half link chain anyway, so just put a link back in job done, but you should be able to slam your wheel shouldn't you?

lol, oh well, at least if i don't have it slammed i'll be able to get the wheel out without breaking the chain.

i have my frames made now to make sure everything fits,i spec everything from tyre size to rear end length bb height.
it just makes it spot on,and its not that much more to get one custom built.

ive just slamed the wheel on ,y brackens to make back end shorter and fooked about with it for ages to get the yre and brake to fit without rubbing anything .i have used half link but could have really done with another 3 or 4 mil clearance .with another link added thoug wheels way back and no good

I agree dude  :daumenhoch: it bugs Me that frame mnfrs say frame design has come on so far blah blah blah but you still can't put your wheel throughout the dropout & have tyre clearance or a brake that will hit the rim on most frames  :idiot2:

not many new era frames take a 2.1 tyre just to tight slammed.

you've seen me ride right? you think that's wise?

what size tyre is it?

you do know that Tesco do the 6 pack stubbies right? £6.74...but Morrissons have just started stocking them and they're on special at £5 for 6.

the bar ends are those Bar Tabs from Charlie the Bikemonger, they look good but ultimately your bottle tops fall off and they are a shit push fit
in your bars, i put tape round to make em tighter, but going to make my own ones that screw in tight i think.
