Polishing before anodising or chroming
« on: January 24, 2006, 05:48 PM »
Can this be done with a bench grinder and a polishing wheel kit or do you need some different sort of equipment?

How do the professionals do it?

yes a bench grinder & mop kit will do.

the pro's use the same equipment but on a bigger scale IE: more powerful motor, bigger distance between the wheels for bigger items, larger diameter quality mops and pro spec soap.

the chrome/ano finish will be dependant on the polishing, get the polishing perfect and you stand a better chance of a perfect finish.
examples below show polished example which has then been ano'd:

if its a cast component rather than billet material machined, the finish/colour/shine will be different:[/img]

and an alloy pro-class rim, polished and chromed[/img]

dordy, thems graphite zytecs with titanium axles, have a close look mate, not that it makes much difference to the weight of the overall wheels!

but it will to my pro-class rims if i ever get a cheap rear suzue sealed hub small flange 36h in any colour, to build them up, HINT HINT  :Great_Britain:
