Get the seller to give you the serial number.

Philbert had one of these around 96 i think, that's the date i'd put on it 95/96  :-\

Here's a bad picture of mine.

It's slowly being built at the moment.

What headset would you recoment. I was leaning towords a Chris King but don't know if that's too bling. :-\

I have an S&M Cataloge from 1994 that shows 1" Challengers with canti mounts so the non canti ones are earlier than that.

Also, those aint pitchforks, they are challeger forks. Sort of the same as "pre-pitchforks" as they have thinner legs and a single piece steer tube. They were avalable with single and double thick dropouts.

Very nice frame and forks you got there.  :daumenhoch:

Late Challenger but still really really REALLY nice  :daumenhoch:

Dont lean towards a King headset, reach out and grab one! they're great! and fine on one of those

the one i had was originally purchased in 95 by the first owner.

forks lasted a week and the frame stressed after two. a gusset was brazed in and it carried on for a couple of years

that owner then went through 4 dirt bikes through 95 - 97 and still rides and s&m today

Also known as "Bitchforks".  I was talking to the seller of that frame.  He wouldn't give me a price.  Did you just throw money at him until he sold?

I think those Challengers first surfaced around late-92/93.  The one Zippy has (Joe's old one) was much later.

If anyone is looking for a complete OS legal Challenger I'd consider selling mine as I don't plan to race OS anymore.

thats a 93 challenger i'd say. are the dropouts single or two sandwiched together?
