Straightening rims
« on: April 17, 2008, 12:58 PM »
Ive got some araya 7x (or R - can't remember, the curved profile ones). Both have a gentle bend to one side, about 25cm worth of the wheel, 5mm up from a flat surface. this just a question of laying the rim over a pole or something and giving it a bit of shoving? Not massively confident as I've not had to straighten a rim I actually care about before  ::) One's got a slight bend in the rim at one point also.

are they spoked up on hubs ?

if not then surely that could be pulled out with a bit smart spoke tensioning ?
cheers Kev

You'll probably fook it up trying to straighten it like that & there's no reason a 5mm drift will not get pulled out when you build & tension it as mentioned above :daumenhoch:

Nah not spoked up, but I see what you mean, probably best to leave it to a bike shop to get them nice and straight etc. then

*puts down log/mallet*
