anyone got any tips on doing this, aside from sanding the bugg3r off?

would love to know if there is some kind of chemical dip, (a la oven pride) which i could leave this in, and then just polish up.

am i being too optimistic?

take it to a chrome platers it ill need to be zapped with a charge to release the plating.
