help needed, front wheel/forks
« on: February 09, 2013, 04:30 PM »
I am building my new bike. All my other bikes have 10mm axles and 10mm drop outs in the forks. My Haro forks are different, they have 10mm slots, then open out to bigger holes. My skyways have flat axles. I have figured out that I have to turn the axle sideways and it will drop through into the hole. But then the axle is wobbling around in the hole. I have normal nuts. Is there some sort of centraliser washer or nut that I need to get the axle dead central? I only have some standard nuts from normal axles. Here are a couple of pics incase my description doesnt make sense. I know there must be a simple solution to this, but I don't know what it is.

I had a Haro group 1 that did that. As it was NOS it came with 2 washers the sit in the drop out and make up the difference.
Like little top hat washers.

My old dk forks were the same, I bought some axle converter washers, and spent a long time filing them by hand to fit. Hopefully someone will know the correct name for them so I can search and find some.

PM me your address bro and I will get them posted to you in the week okay.

I only have a couple of bikes to do now, so, apart from maybe a frame set change every now and again, I am out, so will never use them  :daumenhoch:
