fixing skyway alloy hub (concaved in)
« on: February 10, 2010, 06:40 PM »
I've got a skyway front wheel, looks like the alloy hub has concaved inwards ,any tips on pushing it out?

Cheers  :daumenhoch:

Piece of cake, take the axle out , the bearing race also knock out of the hub aswell, take out the clear plastic insert from the middle of the hub so that you can see clearly the inside of hub you need to straighten. With the wheel ideally lying down onto something that will not damage the wheel and allow the hub to be knocked through,Use something (piece of hardwood, etc)to knock the hub back out into its correct shape, they are easy to do, just don't over do it.

Hope that makes sense.....

I used a large spacer that sat neatly on the rivet heads ... with a decent size bolt it pulled the hub out perfectly  :daumenhoch:

not had much luck with this, I tried knocking it out but it's not budging, I'm worried I'll crack the alloy if I smash it too hard ?

this method is more effective especially if you are worried about smashing fook out of the hub  :daumenhoch:
